Hmm, it's kinda cool, but i can't help but be disappointed.

When they said "costumes" i was expecting as other people mentioned: Palawa Joko, Master togo etc.. not heroes.

When they said "new skill bar" i thought new skills unique for this event, like the Kilroy Punchout tournaments.. not a crappy skillbar using ingame skills.

The format for it is nothing new either.

If i want to cap flags, i'll go AB. If i want to cap flags without retarded teamates, i'll go play HB. So why choose the cap and run setting again?

It's because they need to work more on the bonus mission pack and GW2.

The elements here are all preexisting, they didn't have to make any new mechanics really. That's why it is the way it is.

It is not fun when your team does not load or stands around or everyone runs in different directions.

I had a blast with teams that stuck together and loaded properly. I played my rit and followed the warrior around keeping ancestors rage and splinter weapon on him as much as possible with the little bit of healing I could throw in there too. That team effort worked well...

The skill set ups are definitely not the best but I think that was on purpose and they are functional but you do have to work at it.

I don't think it is supposed to be about the reward...just a silly holiday game. I have unlocked a lot of skills with the balthazar faction so that works too

All in all pretty fun for a limited time...

I'm a monk shafted is the right word. The whole thing stinks. First I thought we could play any character then I get stuck playing a girl monk. What's so new about that I do that every day. I wanted to be Devona for a change. The fact it takes your profession and sex and assigns you accordingly sucks. At least it should be random. I thought for once there was going to be a PvP thing I could enjoy but no PvP is still as boring as always. Back to farming for me. The rest of Holloween is much more fun. Trick or treat!

Complete disaster for me. Even a korean monk can't heal a full AoD sin combo or cripslash warrior in your ass with healing breeze and sig of dev.

its very fun, easy to get gamer points, easy to win. Mesmer is my favorite as it counters every other build in the brawl.

See assassin, find teammate, stand close to said teammate and healing breeze easily covers that problem.
The cripslash is a little harder, but not that big of a problem. Kiting works great.
Against both, use those 2 knockdowns. He teleports, hit c, knockdown, break chain, gg.
I'm sure a korean monk can think of more original ways.

Uh, go make a pvp female warrior? Then you will be devona? this is not pve only. Go make any pvp char you want and play that way.

Monks aren't so bad, I was in a team with me (warrior) a Rt and 3 monks we got 28 consecs and only lost because one of the monks left and we got a crappy ranger. On the whole I like CB, quick faction and gamer points once you get into a half decent team.

I thought it was fun for two or three rounds in a row but it's not something I'd play for hours. No complaints about the mesmer skillbar

I've enjoyed it for the most part so far. The two biggest problems I've had is the actual arrangements of the skills and leavers. For the most part, the skill sets themselves aren't all that bad.

I don't mind the set group of skills, but it really would be nice if we could at least rearrange them to our liking. Some of the layouts just make NO sense.

The leavers have been my biggest problem playing today. Some leave before the match even gets started, which of course snowballs after the other team gets a few kills. I really don't care if my team is getting crushed.. I'll still take a couple of them with me for the faction points and things.

And yeah.. they probably should do something about the spawn camping. That sucks when it happens.

Apparently you haven't been using the shrines. I mean, when you have the health shrines for +240 health, nothing can spike you down.

I could care less if they keep this as part of the event in the future. I thought it sucked but I'm not much on P vs P and I absolutely hate hero battles which this is too much like.

Costume Brawl was a dissapointment....

I mean I had expectations of assuming a monster skin like in Polymock, instead they turn my war into Lukas, who looks very simaliar in appearance and armor to Crom already.

Having a locked skillbar that was not the best didnt help improve things and stacking the teams to give one side a large advantage didnt make up for it either.

Every time I tried it my team had 2-3 wars and 0 healers and the other team had a monk and rit, lost 3 - 20 in the best showing.......

The skills they gave for the monk are very easily suited to your predicament, if you haven't noticed. Being a monk is rather easy, because of your two sig knockdowns.

When they go for the combo, buy some reflexes and pop off a bane sig. Sin falls down. Teammate warrior comes at you.
Kite a bit, when they cripslash you, HB yourself, when they Gash you, smite condition. Sig Judgement the warrior's attack.

I'm speaking generally, but use the smiting skills defensively. The knockdown is great.

The longest consecutive I've had was 15-something, no healers, just people who were smart about capping and fighting strategically.

Eventually we lost against another team with no healers, but all melee that won through kills on that 3 shrine map.

Many people who are disappointed are hard-core pvpers, who can't run the ultimately tweaked team builds with usual strategies. The biggest difference comes from each class needing to take care of themselves against all others - something not common in other forms of pvp. Also different, is the complete lack of protection, at least in the usual way.

All things equal, the builds are well thought out - but make sure to look at other bars to see why.

While builds may appear somewhat weak, they are all equally weak. All builds can be countered by all builds - but not necessarily be able to kill each other, which happens to be the main problem. Knowing who to fight and how is the key.

But ultimately, this rock/paper/scissors will become the winning criteria, as sufficient number of people learn to use the builds effectively. There is some bias as to who can counter what.

Rits are pretty high on the food chain, mesmers are really quite helpless against them, especially once they get the spirits going. Rangers are probably "best", but they can be countered in many of non-skill ways - hiding behind walls and similar.

But the only real problem I have, is that this type of PvP is indicative of what GW2 will be. Cookie cutter builds, rock/paper/scissors mechanics, and, as far as pve is concerned, these few skills scaling with level.

I've tried it a bit on my ranger, aside from the usual a-holes, I liked it. Really fun to interrupt the crap outta everything x].

Went in today for my first taste of this, had no idea what to expect or what to do. However, a few seconds of examining the skill bar and following the lead of some more experienced players, eliminated any hesitation I might have had. Our group went to 5 wins, and unfortunately during the last one of our members stayed grayed out. Otherwise I'm sure we would've continued

For someone who never really played PvP before, this is a pretty cool and casual opportunity to give it a go. I had a lot of fun.

I don't see why you're making that connection..?

I don't mind costume brawls at all. This chould be because I'm already familiar with a lot of the bars, so there's less adjusting for me. Also, I've noticed that sometimes if I'm fighting 1v1 with someone and my monk ally comes up to help me, I end up surviving very nicely. I'm a little surprised how well Smite Condition, Healing Breeze, and Signet of Devotion can work here if used right.

However, I can understand how people think this event didn't have a lot of thought put into it. No new skills, no new game mechanics, no new models or graphics. But I'm not complaining.

By reading between the lines of GW2 announcements (especially the skill format and pvp types). Everything else added recently is also testbed for GW2 concepts.
